Getting to the Race
 

 


Public Transportation

Due to the outstanding success of the Portland Race, you are strongly urged to take public transportation to the Race if possible!  MAX trains and Tri-Met or C-Tran buses are a great way to go, though allow yourself extra time in any case!  Extra MAX trains will be added on Race Day, and they will still be very busy!

More bus and MAX service for Komen Portland Race for the Cure®

Tri-Met will increase service on MAX and five bus lines on Race morning, Sunday, September 16. MAX Blue Line trains will operate every 10 minutes from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition to regular Sunday bus service, these lines will increase frequency, running every 15 minutes:

8-NE 15th Ave
  To downtown from NE 9th & Dekum
Duration 6:33 to 8:33 a.m.
12-Barbur Blvd
  To downtown from Hwy 99 & Durham
Duration 6:46 to 8:12 a.m.
15-Belmont
  To downtown from SE 82nd & Stark
Duration 6:38 to 8:31 a.m.
33-McLoughlin
  To downtown from Oregon City TC via Gloucester
Duration 7:36 to 8:34 a.m.
54-Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy/56-Scholls Ferry
  To downtown from Raleigh Hills
Duration 7:09 to 8:24 a.m.

Parking

Race Day parking is offered free of charge, to any vehicle arriving before 11 AM, at any downtown City Center Parking SURFACE LOT (excludes garages!).  Thanks, City Center Parking!  Metered parking is also free on Sundays.

Driving Directions

From I-5 North (i.e. from Seattle):  

  1. Take I-5 South to the OMSI/Oregon City exit (# 300B). 
  2. Remain in the right lane. 
  3. Exit onto Morrison Street Bridge and remain in the right lane. 
  4. Take off ramp to Front Avenue/Naito Parkway, which makes a sharp loop to the right, going back under the bridge. 
  5. Head south on Front Avenue/Naito Parkway; Tom McCall Waterfront Park runs the length of Front Ave./Naito Parkway on the left side

From I-5 South (i.e. from Salem and/or Eugene):  

  1. Take I-5 North and as you approach Portland, remain in the left lane. 
  2. Take Exit # 299B (exits to the left), then take the Front Avenue/Naito Parkway Exit (# 1A), which approaches rapidly on the left. 
  3. The freeway ends and you are on SW Harbor Drive. 
  4. Continue through two intersections onto Clay Street. 
  5. Make a right on 2nd Avenue. 
  6. Make a right on Columbia and follow it down to Front Avenue/Naito Parkway. 
  7. Go left onto Front Ave./Naito Parkway; Tom McCall Waterfront Park is on the right and runs the length of Front/Naito
